The escalating rivalry and a major breakthrough in IT have made software developers pay attention to effectiveness and productivity of all work processes. As a result, there have been invented various programmes that can optimise enterprises' work. Microsoft Word is one of the most frequently used document formats. It is a word processing programme which is intended for creation of documents, such as resumes, newsletters, fax cover sheets, reports, legal documents, brochures, technical manuals and so on. Word is ordinarily used by corporations, agencies, and is installed in most educational establishments. Students deploy it daily and business people deploy it for creating documents. Word Document was launched by Microsoft. It was introduced to the market under the name Multi-Tool Word. The first addition was introduced in 1983. Since that time, several other versions have followed, including the latest addition that appeared in 2008. The next addition of Word is said to be introduced in the coming year. A lot of new features typical of other programs in the Microsoft Office 2010 will be included. Microsoft Word 2010 will have new WordArt styles and effects superseding the old ones. Though Word is a component of the Microsoft Office system, it sells as a standalone software package and included in Microsoft Works Suite. Starting from the 2003 addition, the branding was altered to emphasise Word's identity as a constituent within the Office Suite. Microsoft Ltd. Renamed Microsoft Word into Microsoft Office Word. Microsoft Word's formats are denoted either by a. doc or. docx file extension. The newer ".docx" extension denotes the Office Open XML international standard for Office documents and is used by Word 2007 for Windows, Word 2008 for the Macintosh. The Word document format allows to type, format and modify text to create documents that can be printed off or viewed electronically. Microsoft Word is a low-cost word processing application. The application offers numerous features and tools, and a lot of users are familiar and comfortable with its Microsoft toolbars. The Word format offers options to format fonts, add page numbers and clipart, as well as create tables and headers. |
